The Strengths and Weaknesses of TV Advertising

Pros
1.) Mass Coverage
Everyone who has TV can see your advertisements. You wouldn't have to spend money for door to door with your promotions.

2.) Low Cost
Low cost in a way that you basically just spend a cent for every person who views your ad. They, in return, spend (Let’s say your product costs Php100) 100 pesos for your product.

3.) Impact
It gives a more lasting impression on the viewer’s rather than just reading about it. You can give bigger impact depending on how you sell your product with the production.

4.) Creative
You can express your creativity with advertising. You have visuals and audio to support your advertisement so you can make the most out of the budget you use.

Cons
1.) High production cost
This contradicts the Low cost on the pros but this is on a different case. Production would most definitely cost a lot of money. From the lights, the crew and the talents, everything and every move you make during these production days would definitely cost you money.

2.) High airtime cost
Not just you have to pay for production but you also have to pay for the time slot and the airtime. The costs are not your walk in the park. The number of times the ad is aired along with when it should be aired. You definitely pay higher if you place your ad on prime time spots along with the evening highest rating shows.

3.) Brevity
Brevity is the briefness of your advertisements. All commercials should be kept brief unless you are willing to pay a fortune. Every extended minute would still cost you so you have to fit all the information you need, while being creative in 30 seconds or less.

4.) Clutter
Having the opportunity to work with both visuals and audio, you sometimes tend to fit everything in one frame and let all creative ideas loose at the wrong places and times on the screen. Clutter has its way of dissolving the message into something the audience could no longer understand.
