How to write an effective article or blog post
Most of you would love to write your own articles but you just can’t figure out how to start and what to put in it. Here are some tips that could help you with that little dilemma.
- Write about something you know
Make sure that for whatever topic you choose, you have the basics about it. You should have an experience or the knowledge about what you’re writing so the idea just flows naturally and you wouldn’t sound like a lifeless robot rewriting a bunch of things you found out in random places of the internet.
- Start with the idea
Start with what you want the readers to understand about your topic. Write an introduction that entitles the whole idea of your article but leave them wanting more. It may be a short sentence or a paragraph, either way, you have to keep them interested and make them want to keep reading on for more of the juicy details.
- Keep it simple
The most effective articles are the ones with the simplest use of words. Yea you use the most “highfalutin” words yet the readers can’t understand a single thought. Keep in mind that even the smartest people in the world appreciates simplicity. Don’t try to sound smart in your articles. Remember, the smartest people could make complicated things simple not make the simple things complicated. Sometimes you read the most complex articles but then afterwards you remember nothing – not the way you want your articles to be.
- Write as you speak
One of the most effective ways to keep your readers interested is to let them feel that “Hey! A human being actually wrote this.” Sounding robotic and lifeless with your articles would just get your readers running to someone else. That’s how you lose a date, you bore them to death! Besides, if you write the way you speak then sure enough you’ll go beyond your word count and you’ll be having fun writing your articles.
- Persuade. Don’t fight
If you want to write a persuasive article then just give out your point. Don’t add any other insulting words just to describe the readers who don’t agree with you. The goal is to let them see things from your point of view and let them experience how it is to think like you. Treat them as if you’re offering them a business deal. You persuade them rather than fight with them or else, they won’t invest their time on you.
- Anticipate that the audience have their own thoughts and beliefs
The audience are entitled to their own opinion as well. Putting out there your stories, point of views and your own take on the world around us, then you’re sure to get a piece of what they say to you too. Whatever it is that you will hear from your readers, take it as a compliment since they’ve actually invested time in reading your article and they bothered on what you are to say.
