One of Timothy Bradley’s most prevalent victory in his career happened last October when he defeated Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez in a commanding twelve round unanimous decision. During that fight, Marquez was probably still in cloud nine and daydreaming about his one punch knockout win against Pacquiao because he didn’t put enough pressure to score more points against Bradley which cost him the fight. Although Marquez and his fans claimed that it was a robbery and that Marquez actually won the fight, the judges still had the last cry on who they think really emerged triumphant as they chose to retain Bradley’s WBO Welterweight title as well as his unblemished pro-boxing record.
According to Marquez’ trainer Nacho Beristain, they are pushing for a Bradley-Marquez rematch to happen or otherwise, Marquez will just leave the sport and retire from boxing.
In an interview, Boxingscene asked Bradley’s trainer Joel Diaz if they’d be attracted in a rematch with Marquez taking into account the possibility of fighting Manny Pacquiao who just came off a governing win over Brandon Rios. The trainer replied;
“Honestly, I would like to go the Pacquiao way. We know this is a business and at the end of the day the best possible options are the ones we’re going to take. If Pacquiao wants a rematch with Bradley, we’re open for that. It’s up to the promoters. We can only ask but they’re the ones that are going to make the final decision.”
Diaz exposed that they would also be willing to give Marquez a rematch, but the fight that he really want for Bradley is against Pacquiao. Bradley was awarded a split decision victory over Manny in 2012 but it seemed that Bradley and judges CJ Ross and Duane Ford were the only ones who saw him winning the fight as there was an immediate criticism over the result.
“You know Marquez, we beat Marquez fair and square but the option is open. I would like to go back to Pacquiao. The reason why is because we had a very sour taste after that fight and I would like to clear things. Honestly I would like to fight Manny Pacquiao so that we could make it nice and clear. We win, we lose but we go home happy and we don’t have to go home with a controversy of supposedly losing or a robbery” the pro boxing trainer said.
Bradley will surely be in for a super fight against some of the big names in boxing this year. Although his opponent is yet to be known, his future fights will definitely prove that he belong to the cluster of the best boxers in this generation and that he will continue to fight and earn the respect that most boxing fans refused to give him.
To all Pacquiao fans out there, are you willing to watch Manny fighting against Bradley for the second time?
